Kupwara, August 03 : Police in north Kashmir’s Kupwara District on Monday claimed to have arrested Kingpin his associate in recent smuggling module.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, Police said two persons accused persons identified as Zahoor Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir of Mirgund Pattan and his associate Zahoor Ahmad Shah son of Akbar Shah of Panjtaran Karnah.
Police statement said, After sustained questioning of the accused, it came to the fore that the accused were in constant contact with one Bashir Ahmed Sheikh and Amir Sheikh who were recently arrested at Sadna Top with a consignment of 10.2 Kgs of narcotics and large quantity of other war like store. Further, the accused were also in constant contact with their handler from POK and were receiving directions from them for transport and tracking of weapons and narcotics consignment into the valley.
Both the individuals have been booked in case FIR No 57/2020 u/s 7/25 A Act, 8/21 NDPS Act, 13,16,18,39 UA(P)A Act registeted in Police Station Karnah. Kupwara Police is committed to the complete unearthing and destruction of the narco-weapon smuggling modules operating in the district and beyond and humbly requests public at large to join hands with law enforcement mechanism in the district in fighting this menace.
