Sopore : The Jammu and Kashmir police have said that National Conference leader Irshad Rasool Kar his sister Masrat Rasool Kar, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and other councilors are safe as a manhunt is on to trace the militants.
As per the reports, a municipal councilor, PSO were killed while another council was injured in what is believed to be a militant attack in the Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
As reported by Kashmir Despatch that a meeting of municipal councilors was underway in Sopore.
In the incident, a municipal councilor Riyaz Ahmad and his PSO Shakfat were injured. However, the duo succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir police have said that the rest of the councilors are safe which include members of the Political party National Conference and Bharatiya Janata Party. “They (councilors) are safe we have sealed the whole area to nab the culprits.
Not much can be said as of now as investigation are under process”, a police official said.
