Sopore, Sep 30: The Returning Officer of the Sopore Assembly Constituency, S.A. Raina, stated that Sopore will once again create a record and will have the highest turnover in the entire district.
Speaking exclusively with Kashmir Despatch, S.A. Raina said that just as Sopore created a record in the Lok Sabha elections by increasing the polling percentage from 4% to 44%, the highest turnover record will also be achieved in this assembly election.
He said that the changing political scenario is now visible in Sopore, as 20 candidates are in the fray, whereas in the past, there were hardly any takers for contesting the elections.
ADC Sopore, who is also the Returning Officer of the Sopore constituency, S.A. Raina, said that all the preparations are done, and everything is in place for the smooth and safe polls on October 1.
He said that Sopore is one such constituency where more than 50% of the voters are women, and we have set up pink polling stations with only women staff.
He said that we have also requested the women voters in this constituency to participate in the electoral process and cast their vote for their favorite candidates, so that there is a balance in the system.
He stated that he believes there are very few constituencies where more than two women are contesting, which is also a great sign.
Pertinently, the 07-Sopore Assembly Constituency has a total of 1,12,793 registered voters, of which 55,990 are males and 56,803 are females, and notably, there are no voters registered under the third gender category in this constituency.
To ensure thorough voter access, 129 polling stations have been established across the constituency to ensure a smooth and hassle-free voting process.
