The family of Haseena Bano, also known as Birjees Budroo, has appealed to the police for a thorough and impartial investigation after she was found dead at her residence in Model Town Sopore on July 20.

While her husband claims it to be a case of suicide, her grieving family alleges it to be a case of murder.

Birjees’s brother narrated the sequence of events leading to her untimely demise.

“We received a distressing call from her husband at 8:50, stating that something had happened to Birjees. By the time we rushed to her aid at 8:55, she was already lying lifeless on the floor with visible bruises on her body,” he added.

“She was immediately taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.”

The deceased’s brother expressed suspicion over the circumstances surrounding her death, highlighting inconsistencies in her husband’s account.

He contested the claim that she hanged herself from a spot barely 6 feet high, whereas the deceased was 5 feet 9 inches tall, deeming it virtually impossible.

Adding to their concerns, the family discovered an audio recording of Birjees’s last call, where she seemed to be asking for help and her voice appeared to be suppressed, hinting at possible strangulation.

Dr. Shameema Badroo, the elder sister of the deceased, firmly asserted that this was not a case of suicide but a meticulously planned murder.

She disclosed that Birjees had endured repeated physical abuse at the hands of her husband, portraying him as a serial offender.

In response to the family’s plea, the police launched an investigation into the tragic incident.

The initial probe resulted in the arrest of the deceased woman’s husband under Section 306 of the law, which deals with abetment of suicide.

The suspect is currently in police custody, as authorities work diligently to gather further evidence to shed light on the circumstances that led to this heartrending event.

Dr. Budroo acknowledged that earlier, they had considered suicide as a possible cause, but the mounting evidence and her husband’s behavior pushed them to suspect foul play.

The family firmly believes that justice must prevail, and they call upon the authorities to conduct a comprehensive inquiry in accordance with the law.
