Sopore family quarantined after having close contact with Bandipora’s COVID-19 patient

Srinagar, March 29 : Eight members of a family including their three minor children have been kept under quarantine after coming in close contact with a relative from Bandipora who was diagnosed with COVID-19 yesterday.

Reports reaching said authorities on Sunday kept a family from Harwan village in Quarantine center at Watergam after they had come in close contact with their relative of north Kashmir’s Bandipora village who had spent a night with them, was diagnosed with COVID-19 among three others on Saturday.

Dr. Rudyana in-charge officer at Sopore told news agency, a family of north Kashmir’s Sopore village has been traced had come in contact with infected person have been put in quarantine in Watergam. She said efforts are on to trace out other persons who came in contact with the Covid-19 partient.

The Kashmir Valley recorded the second fatality due to the novel coronavirus as a 52-year-old man hailing from Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district died on Sunday wee hours at Chest Disease hospital Dalgate, Srinagar.

On Thursday last, a 65-year-old from Hyderpora died of the disease, making it the first case of death due to Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, five more people tested positive for the coronavirus, taking the number of such persons to 29 in Kashmir Valley and overall 38 in the entire Jammu and Kashmir.(GNS)
