Sopore, Nov 08: Security forces on Friday evening addressed a joint press conference regarding the Sopore gunfight in which two Pakistani militants were killed.
The Commander of the 5 Sector, DIG of the North Kashmir Range, SSP Sopore, and CRPF jointly briefed the media in Sopore about the operation.
In the address, the Commander of the 5 Sector stated:
“We are pleased to announce the successful completion of Operation Panipura, a commendable initiative that underscores the bravery and commitment of our security forces in the Baramulla District of Kashmir.
Firstly, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the courageous soldiers of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Their tireless efforts and unparalleled bravery have resulted in significant achievements in combating terrorism in the region.
On November 7, 2024, the Indian Army, along with JKP and CRPF, launched a coordinated operation following credible intelligence regarding the presence of two terrorists in Panipura village. Demonstrating exceptional diligence, the forces cordoned off the suspected area and maintained constant surveillance to ensure the safety of the local population.
During the operation, the terrorists engaged in indiscriminate firing from local settlements, but the alert troops responded with determined and controlled action, prioritizing the safety of civilians. The Army successfully evacuated nearby residences, ensuring minimal disruption and safeguarding the local populace.
On the morning of November 8, as the terrorists resumed their violent actions, our valiant soldiers neutralized both threats while adhering to their commitment to protect citizens. Identification of the terrorists is underway, and initial recoveries indicate their affiliation with an organization that has been active in North Kashmir for some time. This operation represents a significant victory in our ongoing efforts to establish peace and security in the region.
In recent weeks, the Indian Army and JKP have collaborated effectively to track and neutralize several key terrorists, and this success has been greatly aided by the unwavering support of the local community.
