Sopore locality residents block highway to protest against water scarcity

Sopore, Sep 18 : Residents of Shangargund village of Sopore in north Kashmir on Monday hold protest over water scarcity in their locality while accusing J Shakti department of failing to provide them drinking water.

The residents told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they are facing acute shortage of drinking water for the last few weeks while concerned department have been failed to redress the issue.

“There is no drinking water in our village and we are being compelled to drink unhygienic water which is posing serious health issues”, they alleged.

The agitated residents blocked Sopore – Kupwara highway, thus resulted into the traffic jams, however, the traffic movement was restored shortly after police intervention.

They appealed to the authorities to address the issue soonest so that they can heave a sigh of relief—(KNO)
