On 05/11/2024, PS Sopore received information about an unknown motorcyclist hitting and injuring Dr. Azhar Hassan Janwari, a pedestrian from Upper Ashpeer, Sopore. An FIR (No. 233/2024) was registered in the matter, and the investigation began. The victim was initially treated at SDH Sopore and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on 18/11/2024.
After extensive efforts, including technical means, one Nadeem Hameed Badam from Upper Ashpeer, Sopore was identified as the accused. He has confessed to hitting the victim while riding his scooty (JK05H-4292) recklessly on 05/11/2024. Fearing consequences, he fled the scene and did not report the incident to authorities.
The accused has been arrested and the vehicle has been seized. Section 106(2) was added to the victim’s death and further investigation is on.
