Sopore, Jun 27 : Residents of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district accused Roads and Building (R&B) department of using poor quality material in macadamization of roads in the town.
Residents of Batpora area of Sopore on Thursday claimed that the patches macadamised by Roads and Building department broke within 24 hours of completion of work showing the quality of the material used by the contractors to macadamize the roads in the town.
The residents of other areas also alleged department for using sub standard material in the work.
Group of people talking with Kashmir Despatch said that only after one night of macadamization, it developed cracks and road got damaged partially which clearly states usage of poor quality material in construction.
However, the residents have appealed Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore to look into the matter and take action against the department as well as contractor.
