Matter taken up with higher authorities : Councillor Irfan Ali

Sopore : Residents of Hyder colony area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are struggling for drinking water since past month.
According to Kashmir Despatch Correspondent, the residents of Hyder colony Sopore have expressed resentment against the authorities for failing to provide potable water to them, making people suffer.
The residents said that they had taken up the issue with the concerned authorities on several occasions in the past but to no avail.
They further said that people were forced to suffer despite the availability of enormous water resources in the district.
Meanwhile, Councillor Irfan Ali told Kashmir Despatch that matter has been taken up with the higher authorities and people in Hyder colony will get a sign of relief at earlier.
He said deputy commissioner Baramulla has also been Informed about this water crisis and he has assured about the redressal of this genuine issue as soon as possible, Irfan added.
A senior official at Jal Shakti Department Sopore Leharwal told Kashmir Despatch that he was informed about the issue yesterday, he said a team from the department will visit the area soon to look into the sufferings of people.
