Hospitals to have quality medicines: Union Minister

SOPORE, Sep 18: Union Minister of Health Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday said that inhabitants of Sopore will not suffer anymore as quality medicines will be made available in general store hospitals only.

Talking to media on the sidelines of a function at sub district hospital Sopore as per Kashmir Despatch correspondent, the union health minister said that patient care will remain unaffected in Sopore as quality medicines will be available at cheap rates at general medical store which was also inaugurated today by the concerned minister.

Pertinently, the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya also inaugurated a Computed Tomography (CT) scan unit in the hospital.

On the occasion President Municipal Council Sopore Masrat Kar briefed the union health minister about the sufferings and issues of Sopore hospital saying that there should be an up-gradation of sub district hospital to a district hospital.

She said the new hospital building is incomplete due to some liabilities with JKPCC and the same should be completed as soon as possible and properly handed over to the hospital administration.

The MC President also demanded a fully functional new operation theater which has not been made functional so far.

She highlighted that the elevator that was installed in the new building be made functional for the convenience of the patients and their attendants.

“Considering the harsh winter in the valley, a central heating facility should be the top priority for the hospital administration for both new and the old hospital buildings. Similarly, residential quarters for senior doctors are still incomplete since many years, which cause hindrance in effective deliverance of healthcare facilities,” she added, as per the Kashmir Despatch correspondent.

Kar demanded that there should be a 24×7 gynecology theater facility to provide relief to the poor which in turn will prevent referrals to other district hospitals.

“There should be a proper oxygen supply, dedicated drug rehabilitation center,” she added.

Besides Additional Chief Secretary health and medical education UT of J&K Vivek Bhardwaj, Chairperson district development council Baramulla Safeena Beigh, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar, President Municipal Council Sopore Masrat Kar, Director health services Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather were present on the occasion.
