The cinematographer is instrumental in enhancing the efforts of actors, actresses, directors, and producers with their skilled talent, ensuring that every frame resonates with emotion and depth.
In this glamorous industry, where fierce competition reigns among various talents, one name stands out. Known not only for his exceptional skills but also for his relentless dedication, he is none other than a son of the soil from Kashmir. His journey in the cinematic landscape exemplifies the power of talent combined with hard work.

Meet Tanveer Mir, a resident of Janawara village in north Kashmir’s Sopore town, who has shown remarkable tenacity in establishing himself as a critically acclaimed and award-winning cinematographer in both the dreamworld of Bollywood and the South film industry.
In yet another development, this young cinematographer has been awarded the title of Best Cinematographer 2024 for his work on “Ranneeti: Balakot & Beyond,” a Hindi-language war drama.
Confirming the achievement to Kashmir Despatch, Tanveer Mir expressed his joy, stating that this award was received at the Yellowstone International Film Festival (YIFF).
He said, “It has started! Ranneeti has been nominated in many film festivals. A nomination is a testament that your work has been recognized, watched, loved, and resonated with people, and is put out there with the best in the business. But when you win one, it’s an amazing feeling altogether!” he further added.
In the past, Tanveer was honored with the Ananda Vikatan Award for the movie “Psycho,” which is one of the most prestigious cinematography awards in South cinema.
The award-winning cinematographer has collaborated with all Bollywood bigwigs, including Amitabh Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Lara Dutta. He also shares a great professional bond with South superstars like Allu Arjun and Amy Jackson, among others.
Tanveer has worked with renowned Bollywood directors and producers such as Mani Ratnam, P.C. Sriram, and Allu Arvind.
Some of Tanveer Mir’s best-known works include “Pad Man” (2018), “I” (2015), and “Psycho” (2020). He has also contributed to films such as “Eat, Pray, Love,” “India Schedule,” “Guzaarish” (Hindi), “Yuthamsai” (Tamil), “Shudra” (Hindi), “Ishq” (Telugu), “Annanukku Jai” (Tamil), “Psycho,” and “Urvasivo Rakshasivo,”.
