Sports commentator from Baramulla Kifayat makes it big

Baramulla, August 11: Kifayat Aftab from Baramulla has made his latest impression as a Sports Commentator at Professor Showket Ali Stadium Baramulla.


Hailing from North Kashmir’s Baramulla, which has a history of creating some dynamic commentators Khifayat has made a name for himself in whole Jammu and Kashmir. Khifayat started his Cricket journey from the professor Showket Ali Stadium Baramulla, Khushall Stadium Sopore, Jehlum Stadium Baramulla and other playing fields at North Kashmir.


Recently, on the occasion of match played between Baramulla x1 and BCC Blues ’Kifayat Shared the Commentary box with News anchor Shweta Singh of Aaj Tak.


Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Khifayat said, “I am thankful to Sports Association Baramulla and other organizations for providing me with the opportunity to showcase my talent and skills. I am very ecstatic that I was selected to do the commentary for such an event where a famous cricketer Suresh Raina played against BCC blues at College Ground Baramulla.”
He further said, “I’m looking forward to continuing my association with them.”


Kifayat has not only carved a niche but established himself as a best sports server in Baramulla, playing an important role for organizing sports events and helping others and the ills plaguing its growth as well as the shabby state of infrastructure here.


Kifayat said that it was always an uphill and daunting task considering that very few commentators had made a mark in this field (Sports Commentary) in the history of Kashmir. He added, “When I look down this journey it gives me immense satisfaction that I started my Commentary Career in a less than half-decade.”


He said, “When people say that I am one among few commentators from Baramulla to achieve this feat, I feel honoured, humbled and proud of my achievements. It is a big achievement to be a sports commentator.


Kifayat further said that one needs to have a bit of work experience from local matches. One also needs to have a very strong knowledge of sports and be abreast with the latest developments in sports teams, players and statics, which are essential for this role.


The senior cricketer from DCx1 Baramulla Babloo Singh said, “Kifayat has a potential to become the good commentator. I am sure he will achieve big, once he gets exposure at national or international level. Another senior cricketer Muzaffar Mattoo said that Kifayat Aftab has made a good impression as a commentator in Baramulla district.
