Srinagar, Sep 15: SMC Commissioner Faz Lul Haseeb on Tuesday said a series of small interventions, including slip lanes at Sangarmal and Jehangir Chowk, are being planned to ease traffic congestion along the busy MA Road here.
Faz Lul Haseeb said the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, in coordination with its engineers and the Srinagar Smart City team, has been working on measures to reduce traffic pressure and improve vehicular movement on the arterial road.
“We have taken a couple of designs, one at Sangarmal and another at Jehangir Chowk. You will see the work starting in the next few days and with some small interventions, there will be an improvement in traffic movement,” he told reporters.
The Commissioner said the SMC would also coordinate with the Traffic Police to formulate an enforcement plan for better traffic management.
“For now, we will introduce slip lanes and see how the traffic can be managed,” he added.
Notably, MA Road, a key commercial and business hub in the summer capital, has long been plagued by chronic traffic snarls, particularly during peak hours.
