SRINAGAR, April 1: A Srinagar-based lawyer has filed an application under RTI, seeking total amount spent on accommodation, transportation and other expenses on the alleged conman from Gujarat, Patel Kiran Bhai.

In the application, addressed to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the lawyer, Aamir Masoodi, has also sought details of the concerned department who paid the whole amount on behalf of Patel Kiran Bhai on his last two visits to Kashmir valley prior to his arrest last month.

Meanwhile, a local resident from Rambagh, Srinagar has filed a complaint before a court here, seeking direction to SHO Police station Kothi Bagh here to register an FIR against Patel for defrauding him of Rs 18 Lakh as share amount in a company. According to the complaint filed through advocate Masoodi, Patel revealed his name as Chetan Prakash resident of Begumpur, North West Delhi and projected himself as managing partner at the particular company dealing in areca nuts.

The resident of Rambagh has alleged that he paid Rs.18 lakhs in different installments following the interactions with Patel at Pratap Park Srinagar and at a restaurant in Srinagar last year.

Pertinently, the Government on Wednesday last ordered inquiry into the various aspects related to the visits of “Shri Kiran Patel” who conned the security establishment in J&K into believing him to be a PMO official and enjoyed five star protocol “brazenly” for a considerable period of time prior to his arrest.

The inquiry is being conducted by Divisional Commissioner Srinagar and he is required to submit a report within a week.

Patel was on his third visit to the Kashmir Valley when he was nabbed by security officials from a five-star hotel in Nishat area of Srinagar on March 2.

As per the police report, Patel has prima facie forged and manufactured some documents including some visiting cards on the basis of which he has defrauded not only a single or group of person but “extremely elevated class of the society including high officials of the civil administration and police authorities.” At the end of the day, the police said, Patel succeeded in getting Z Category Security, bullet proof vehicle and enjoyed five star protocol “brazenly” for a considerable period of time.
