KANGAN : The Srinagar-Leh highway remained closed for the second consecutive day on Saturday following a massive landslide in Bonibagh area of Kangan along the strategic road in Ganderbal district on Friday noon.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that the road was blocked on Friday after a massive landslide hits Bonibagh, leaving 20 shops and residential houses including to 2 vehicles completely damaged, However, there was no report of any causality.
He said hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on both sides on the highway.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for the maintenance of the highway have already put into service since yesterday and sophisticated machines and men to put through the traffic,however it will take more hours to clear the debris from the highway.
