Srinagar: Working on the directions of SSP Srinagar, East Zone Srinagar achieved a major success in their efforts against drug peddling when 02 peddlers were arrested and narcotic capsules recovered from their possession.
A Police Party from PS Harwan, while carrying out random patrolling and naka checking on 19-07-2020, apprehended a person identified as: Zubair Ahmad Khan, S/o Late Mohammad Ayaz Khan, R/o Zaindhar Mohalla, Haba Kadal, Srinagar
On search, 1000 tablets of psychotropic drug Tramadol were recovered from his possession.
Based on this, FIR No 63/2020 under relevant sections of law was registered at PS Harwan and investigation was initiated.
On further investigation, the arrested accused disclosed the source of illicit drugs, based on which it came to light that one person namely,
Mahroof Ahmad Sofi,
S/o Abdul Salam Sofi,
R/o Zaina Kadal, Srinagar was involved in peddling of tramadol tablets illicitly.
Immediately, a police party headed by SHO Harwan – Insp Mohd Ayub Rather, under the supervision of SDPO Nehru Park- Dr Sachit Sharma- JKPS, tracked and apprehended the second accused and recovered 5500 illegally stocked tablets of Tramadol from his possession. Further investigation into the case is in process.
Earlier this month, East Zone Srinagar Police, acting tough against drug peddling, has registered 03 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 4 drug peddlers, recovering substantial amounts of narcotic and psychotropic substances from their possession.
