Srinagar, Dec 8,: In a security-focused operation, Srinagar Police have initiated stringent legal action against several hotels, a homestay and multiple houseboat operators across the city for violating mandatory Form-C reporting norms under the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
Police said the action followed routine inspections and verification drives conducted at hotels, guest houses, homestays and houseboats to ensure compliance with regulations governing the stay of foreign nationals.
In the Rajbagh area, Hotel Blossoms, Hotel Grand MS and Hotel Golden Forest were found to have allowed foreign nationals to stay without submitting Form-C details to the Foreigners Registration Office. In this regard, FIR No. 65/2025 under Sections 8 and 23-B of the Immigration and Foreigners Act was registered at Police Station Rajbagh.
In Khanyar, Hotel Khyber at Khayam was found violating Form-C submission requirements. Police said that despite repeated directions, the management failed to produce any proof of mandatory reporting, leading to the registration of FIR No. 57/2025 at Police Station Khanyar.
In Lal Bazar, IMY Home Stay at Nowabagh Bagwanpora was found operating without Form-C compliance for a foreign national from Israel and other guests. Police said the management deliberately concealed the stay of the foreign guest and failed to submit the mandatory online Form-C. FIR No. 60/2025 under Sections 8 and 23-B of the Act was registered at Police Station Lal Bazar.
In a similar case, a house owner in the Nishat area was found non-compliant with mandatory Form-C reporting norms, resulting in the registration of FIR No. 101/2025 under relevant sections of the Immigration and Foreigners Act at Police Station Nishat.
In the Ram Munshi Bagh area, several houseboats including Floating Castle, Best View Houseboat, Crystal Palace and Lake Palace were found in violation of mandatory reporting rules while accommodating foreign nationals from Taiwan, Russia, Romania and Spain. An FIR No. 94/2025 under Sections 7, 14 and 16 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act was registered at Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh in this connection.
Police said further investigations are underway to examine forward and backward linkages in all the cases.
Srinagar Police reiterated that strict adherence to Form-C reporting norms is mandatory for all hotels, guest houses, houseboats and homestay operators accommodating foreign nationals. Any violation, police said, would be treated as a serious offence and dealt with firmly under the law. [KNT]
