Pattan, 12 July : Scores of residents including women of Sultanpora area of Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday morning staged a protest against Jal Shakti department for their failure in solving the problem.
Sources told Kashmir Despatch, protesters assembled at main chowk Sultanpora and blocked the Naidkhai-Hamray road, affecting the traffic movement for half an hour.
“We residents are reeling under acute water shortage for the last month and today we came out on roads because of the neglect attitude of the department said Sajad Ahamd a local resident.
Altaf Ahmad, another protester said that our area in the entire village is worst affected due to non- availability of adequate water supply, the official at water supply are giving illegal connections which led to water shortage.
Saja Begum, one of the female protester, said that from last month they are facing this issue and despite several claims the officials could not solve the matter.”.
Meanwhile the residents appeals to concerned higher authorities to look into the matter and said We hope SDM pattan will look into the matter personally and redress our genuine grievance at an earliest.
