New Delhi, September 26: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Saturday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed a range of issues concerning the Union Territory.
During the meeting, Sharma raised matters related to the security situation, law and order, development initiatives and issues connected with the ongoing session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Sharma also raised the issue of enhancement of salaries for Special Police Officers (SPOs), which he said was at an advanced stage, and sought its early conclusion. The issue has been under consideration with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Leader of Opposition also apprised the Union Home Minister of concerns being raised by people across Jammu and Kashmir and discussed matters requiring continued attention, coordination and support from the Union Government.
The discussions also covered strengthening security, accelerating development initiatives, addressing public welfare concerns and ensuring timely resolution of issues concerning people in the Union Territory, according to details shared after the meeting.
Shah, according to the account of the meeting, reiterated the Union Government’s commitment to peace, development and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and assured continued support and cooperation in addressing issues concerning the people.
The meeting comes as the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is currently in session, with the session scheduled to continue until September 30.
Sharma expressed gratitude to the Home Minister for his guidance and continued support on matters related to security, development and public welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.
