Baramulla: 12 August: The Drug Control Authority, District Baramulla, conducted a surprise inspection drive at Sheeri, Khawaja Bagh, Main Market Baramulla and areas surrounding PHC Sheeri to check compliance with drug control regulations.
The inspection team comprised Gowhar Mushtaq, Drug Control Officer Baramulla/Sopore, and Yousuf Mohiuddin, Drug Control Officer Pattan/Tangmarg.
During the drive, the pharmacy, block store and immunization centre of PHC Sheeri, along with around 20 medical shops, were inspected. Particular focus was laid on the maintenance of sale and purchase records of narcotic and psychotropic substances, cold-storage facilities, CCTV camera recordings, computerized billing systems and records pertaining to pregabalin.
Four shops were closed down for violations detected during the inspections.
As part of the awareness and outreach activities, a Tiranga Rally was also organised in Sheeri market along with local pharmacists.
The Drug Control Authority stated that the special inspection drive will continue in other areas of District Baramulla to ensure strict compliance with drug laws and safeguard public health.( KNS)
