Uri : As part of ongoing celebrations of the 50thAnniversary of Vijay Diwas across the Nation, Kalapahar Brigade has continued the series of events and brought the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashal’ to Uri.
The ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashal’ going through its journey to various parts of the country entered Kashmir Valley after crossing Jawahar Tunnel on 28 Jun 2021 and has now arrived at Uri on 01nd July 2021.
The ‘Mashaal’ was lit by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 16 December 2020 from the eternal flame of The National War Memorial, New Delhi marking the beginning of the 50th Anniversary year celebrations of India’s historic victory over Pakistan in the 1971 War.
At Uri the ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashal’was received by Brig Ajit M Yeole Commander of Uri Brigadein the presence of military, civil dignitaries and Ex Servicemen of Uri.
The Mashal was then carried in a celebrative procession to the Uri War Memorial by various gallantry award winners, ex-servicemen, civil dignitaries and children from the NCC Battalion, Baramullah as well as from the Army Goodwill School, Uri.
A floral wreath was placed at the War Memorial to honour our martyrs of the Uri Brigade.
The traditional Shok Shahstra and Salami Shastra were followed by two minute silence to honour the supreme sacrifice of the warriors of the nation.The commemorative event was attended by Veer Naris of Uri, Gallantry Award Winners, Civil and Military dignitaries of the area.
To take the event forward and spread the message of India’s ground victory over Pakistan a painting competition as well as a quiz competition for the children of Uri will be organized on 02 July 2021. Having enriched the people of Uri with Nationalistic fervour, the Mashal will then proceed to Naugam on 03rdJuly 2021.
India celebrates Vijay Diwas on 16th December every year to commemorate the historic victory of India against Pakistan.
On this momentous dayin 1971 over 93,000 Pakistani troops under the command of Lieutenant General AAK Niazi surrendered unconditionally to the Indian Army at Dhaka which led to the birth of Bangladesh as a new Nation.
We are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Swarnim Vijay Diwas through several events across the country. Four Victory Mashals are being carried to various parts of the country from new Delhi.
The Mashal will travel to the villages of our Param Vir Chakra and Maha Vir Chakra awardees of 1971 War to celebrate their bravery and recognize their ultimate sacrifice. Soil from these villages and locations where major battles were fought in the 1971 war are also being brought to the National War Memorial as a token of their National recognition.
