Take preventive measures to remain safe; No need to Panic: Dr. Itoo

Srinagar, Mar,16: Dr. Tasaduk Hussain Itoo, Chairman J & K Innovative Foundation for Transforming Society ( JKIFTS), today said that people should take necessary preventive measures to remain safe from Covid -19, novel coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhang province of China in December last year and has now been declared as a global pandemic by World Health Organization.

While talking with Kashmir Despatch Dr. Itoo said, ” Novel Coronavirus 2019 is emerging as a serious sort of public health concern since its outbreak in China in December last year and the cases detected and deaths reported have been showing an upsurge on daily basis involving new countries.”

He further said that World Health Organization and other international health organizations have been monitoring the outbreak closely and updating constantly the information on a daily basis concerning it, besides there has been a lot of research going on to fully uncover the literature of Novel Coronavirus 2019.

Dr. Itoo in an exclusive brief chat with Kashmir Despatch said that “people need to get enough sensitive towards the pandemic so that to ensure necessary preventive measures to be safe and people should go for frequent handwashing with soap, use alcohol – rub sanitizers repeatedly, maintain personal hygiene, cook animal products properly, maintain social distancing from public gatherings and should ensure as maximum protection as possible, he said.

Meanwhile, some medical reports have recently revealed that people with weakened immune systems or pre-existing medical conditions, such as cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, are especially vulnerable to potentially deadly COVID-19 infection.  

According to sources, the outbreak has mainly affected the China, which has witnessed an exponential rise in positive cases for the n -Cov 19 in other more than hundred countries of the world and thereby the outbreak has infected more than 1 lakh people claiming more than 5 thousand lives so far.
