Teacher allegedly bites colleague’s ear in Pattan, arrested

PATTAN, Feb 23: A government school teacher has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and biting his colleague teacher’s ear in Pattan area of Baramulla district on Thursday.

An official told Kashmir Despatch, that the incident took place in Buchoo area of Pattan tehsil when a scuffle between two teachers resulted in one of them allegedly chopping off the ear of his colleague. The injured teacher was immediately taken to the local hospital for treatment, the officer added.

Mohammad Maqbool, ZEO Pattan, told Kashmir Despatch that on Thursday afternoon, a scuffle between two teachers at Buchoo injured teacher Imtiyaz Ahmad.

“In a written report to CEO Baramulla, I have recommended the immediate suspension of accused Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani,” he said.

When contacted, the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Baramulla Chaman Lal Sharma, described the incident as unfortunate and stated that the concerned Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Pattan, had been directed to submit the report to the office in order to initiate departmental action against the accused teacher.

Speaking with Kashmir Despatch, a senior police officer said that a case bearing FIR Number 52/2023 has been registered in this regard, and the accused teacher has also been arrested.
