Teachers denied salary for months, department unmoved

Will look into the matter, says Director Education

Srinagar, Oct 24 : The school education department has denied salary of Grade two and grade three teachers for over seven months, leaving them in a state of despair and shock.

The erstwhile SSA teachers who were recently absorbed in state budget as grade two and Grade three teachers told that the department has not released their salary from past several months.

“Besides delay in release of salary, department has also halted the regularisation of left out  teachers who enhanced their qualification as graduation from outside universities during services or before their recruitment in the department,” a group of teachers told.

He said the delay adopted at the directorate and the administrative department in completing the regularisation of teachers was adding to the miseries of the teachers.

“Governor Administration should look into the issue and ensure that the orders of left out graduates are issued in a shortest possible time,” the teachers said.

They said the delay in release of their salary has subjected them to mental trauma as they are not in position to meet both the ends.

“Those teachers whose files are awaiting approval for conversion as grade II teachers have not received their salary of past months when they were working as erstwhile SSA teachers,” the teachers told.

Notably, the education department has constituted a committee to scrutinize the certified teachers who have obtained degree from outside state University but the process is going on at snails pace, leaving teachers in distress.

“If the verification process is so lengthy then the department should find some alternative to get our salary released for past months. Neither the department is issuing conversion order nor they are releasing our salary which is sheer injustice with the teaching community,” the teachers said.

Also, the newly recruited teachers through service selection board (SSB) are without salary as their files are awaiting approval for release of salary from concerned CEO offices.

“I was appointed during the last recruitment process and was provided posting order as well but I am yet to receive salary,” a teacher said.

Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Muhammad Younis Malik told KNO that the verification of certificates obtained by SSA teachers from outside is going in war footing basis.

“Only 107 files are pending and we are hopeful to issue regularisation order within a week or two. The delay in release of monthly salary will also be looked into,” he said. (KNO)
