Bandipora May 22:- In a bid to accommodate the increasing influx of tourists at Wular Banks in Zurimanz Bandipora local youths pitched tents aimed to accommodate and guide tourists coming to Wular lake.

After constructing Gazebo and selfie points by Wular Conservation Management Authority (WUCUMA) at the Banks of Asia’s second-largest freshwater lake the tourist visitors had increased from the last several months.

The move aims to enhance the overall experience of visitors and promote the picturesque beauty of the region. Capitalizing on this initiative, local youths have taken the initiative to pitch tents, providing comfortable lodging options for travelers.

Speaking with the Kashmir Despatch one of the local resident Showket Ahmad, who have started a comphing club with the name of Wular comphing club said that developments done by WUCUMA had increased employment opportunities for the local community of fishermans.

The comphing Club was inaugurated by District Forest Officer Bandipora Mudasir Mehmood and other officers from WUCUMA civil Adminstration were also present on the occasion.

Speaking with the Kashmir Despatch DFO Bandipora said that the authority believes that by showcasing the lake’s beauty through these selfie points, it will attract more tourists and foster a sense of appreciation for the natural environment.

He also said that these makeshift accommodations provide an affordable and convenient option for tourists who wish to extend their stay and immerse themselves in the serenity of the lake’s surroundings. Tourists can now enjoy a unique camping experience and wake up to stunning views of the lake’s crystal-clear waters, surrounded by majestic mountains.

Manzoor Ahmed, a local youth who set up one of the tents, expressed his excitement about the growing opportunities in tourism. “I saw how tourists were drawn to the selfie points, and I realized there was a need for comfortable accommodations,” he said. “By offering tents, we can contribute to the local economy and provide tourists with an authentic experience of staying close to nature.”

As Wular Lake continues to enchant visitors with its scenic charm and serene ambiance, the introduction of selfie points and the provision of tent accommodations by local youths are expected to boost tourism in the region. It is hoped that these initiatives will further strengthen the economy, generate employment opportunities, and foster a sense of pride among the local community for their invaluable natural heritage.
