New Delhi, May 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that terrorism is the biggest threat to humanity, and that India is committed to taking decisive action against terrorists and those who support them.
PM Modi as per Kashmir Despatch emphasized India’s determination to combat terrorism amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
“Terrorism is the biggest enemy of humanity. We are committed to taking firm and decisive action against terrorists and those who support them. We thank Angola for their support in our fight against cross-border terrorism,” PM Modi remarked after holding talks with Angolan President Lourenco.
He also highlighted the importance of ties between India and the African Union, stating, “We are partners in progress; we are pillars of the Global South.”
His statement comes as tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 civilians lost their lives. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack. Two of the four attackers were confirmed to be Pakistani nationals.
In response, India has implemented punitive measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Attari border, canceling all visas issued to Pakistani nationals, initiating a sweeping crackdown on Pakistani YouTube channels and X handles, and downgrading diplomatic relations.
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a security meeting in which he stated that the armed forces have been given full operational freedom to determine the mode, timing, and targets of India’s response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
PM Modi reaffirmed the nation’s resolve to deliver a decisive blow to terrorism. He vowed to hunt down the terrorists responsible for the attack and their supporters, implicitly referring to Pakistan, which has long been accused of sponsoring cross-border terrorism against India. He pledged to bring them to justice, warning that the punishment would be “beyond their imagination.”
