Kupwara, Feb 15 : Security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district claimed to have arrested a terrorist associate in the district.
A senior police officer told News Agency Kashmir Scroll that during naka checking at
Gundimacher Bridge a terrorist associate has been arrested.
He said the security forces acted swiftly upon noticing a suspicious individual carrying a white bag, travelling from Lalpora towards Gundmacher.
The police and security forces tactfully intercepted the individual as he attempted to flee.
He said the arrested person has been identified as Rafeeg Ahmad Ganie, son of Gh Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Lalpora Sheikhpora.
The officer further said that preliminary questioning led to the recovery of a handgun, a magazine, 10 rounds of ammunition for the pistol, two hand grenades, and a Redmi ll mobile phone from the bag.
The arrested individual is now in police custody, and a case has been registered against him under FIR No. 03/2024 U/S I/25 A Act, 13, 18, 23, 39 ULA (P) at the Lalpora Police Station. The investigation into this matter has been initiated to uncover any potential links and further dismantle any terrorist network operating in the region he added. (KS)
