Thousands attend funeral prayers of youth who died in custody

Srinagar, March 19 : Thousands of people on Tuesday participated in the funeral prayers of the youth who died in police custody in the intervening of Monday-Tuesday.

A private school teacher identified as 28-year-old Rizwan Pandit died in a custody following which a inquiry was initiate to investigate the death.

According to news agency, the body of Rizwan was later handed over to the family members this evening following which the funeral prayers for the deceased was held near Jamia Masjid Awantipora in which thousands of people participate.

A police official confirmed that the body of Rizwan was handed over to the family this evening at around 08:00 PM.

The deceased was later laid to rest at a local graveyard in his native village.
