Srinagar, Sept 6: The Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar witnessed a massive gathering of devotees on Friday night as people from across Kashmir marked Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW), the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Situated on the banks of Dal Lake, the shrine was illuminated as thousands offered special prayers that continued through the night.
Worshippers began arriving in the evening, and by nightfall, the lawns and courtyards were filled with people reciting the Quran, listening to naats, and joining in collective supplications.
Many had travelled from far-off districts to be part of the congregation. Mohammad Sayeed, said visiting Hazratbal on this occasion is a yearly tradition. “It is a way to connect with the Prophet’s (SAW) message of compassion and peace,” he said.

For others, the gathering carried deeply personal meaning.
Officials had deployed health teams and support staff to manage the large crowds. Additional personnel were also stationed to regulate the movement of devotees and ensure safety around the shrine, which houses the revered relic of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The observance was not confined to Hazratbal alone. Mosques, khanqahs, and shrines across the Valley also echoed with prayers, sermons, and processions. Religious scholars urged people to uphold the Prophet’s (SAW) teachings of unity, harmony, and service to humanity.
As dawn approached, thousands of worshippers at Hazratbal awaited a glimpse of the holy relic, raising their hands in silent prayers for peace and blessings.(KNS).
