Kangan, March 21: Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of BJP leader and former MLA Gurez Faqir Muhammad Khan in Kangan on Friday.

Khan, allegedly died by suicide, at his official residence in Tulsibagh Srinagar on Thursday.

After legal formalities, Khan’s body was brought to the Kangan area in Ganderbal district, where a large number of his relatives reside. Thousands of people this morning attended the funeral prayers of the former MLA here. He was later buried.

Srinagar Police said Thursday that it has initiated an investigation into the alleged suicide of ex-MLA. The Police said in a statement that an incident of firearm discharge was reported in the Tulsibagh area of Srinagar resulting in the death of the former legislator. (Agencies)
