Ganderbal, July 27: Three people lost their lives and one young woman was hospitalised in four separate incidents reported from central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday.
An elderly woman was killed after being hit by a JCB machine in the Badarkund area of Ganderbal.
Officials said she sustained critical injuries and was immediately shifted to District Hospital Ganderbal, where doctors declared her brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Hajra, wife of Abdul Ahad Reshi, a resident of Reshipora, Ganderbal.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
In another incident, a woman was found hanging inside her residence in the Bobsipora area of Ganderbal.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Her identity has been withheld. Police have taken cognisance of the incident and started inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.
Meanwhile, a young woman was hospitalised after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance at her residence in the Margund Kangan area of Ganderbal district.
She was initially admitted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan and was later referred to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, while further details are awaited.
In a separate development, Altaf Ahmad Khatana, a resident of Bagh Patti, Surfraw, who had sustained critical injuries in a motorcycle accident at Sumbal Gund, Kangan, on Sunday, succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura on Monday despite efforts by doctors to save his life.
Police have taken cognisance of all four incidents, and further investigations are underway.
