Anantnag, Aug 08 : Police in Anantnag have arrested three habitual fraudsters accused of running an organised racket involving cheating and criminal intimidation under the guise of fake business ventures.
As per the statement, the accused have been identified as Tasaduq Hussain Dar alias Haji Tasaduq, son of Abdul Gani Dar of Sadoora Anantnag, Mohd Iqbal Wani alias Iqbal Bumdori, son of Mohd Sikander Wani of Bumdoora Kokernag and Mujeeb Ahmad Koka, son of Gh Mohiuddin Koka of Shankerpora Dooru.
The police said, the trio allegedly duped people through fraudulent deals in real estate, fruit trade, and wild garlic (Jangli Lahsun), promising high returns and later resorting to intimidation when asked for repayment.
An FIR (No. 126/2025) under Sections 318(4), 351(2), and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Anantnag on the complaint of a Kishtwar resident, who claimed he was cheated of Rs 55 lakh in a fake wild garlic trade.
Police said the case is being probed as an organised financial crime, with efforts underway to trace other victims and associates. They urged anyone defrauded in a similar manner to contact Police Station Anantnag.
The arrests are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates and bring fraudsters to justice, officials added.
