Three houses damaged in cross border shelling along LoC in Uri

Srinagar, June 07: Three residential structures were damaged in day-long shelling in the Hajipeer sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.


A police officer told Kashmir Despatch the shelling from across the border in Hajipeer sector started around 7 Am and continued till this evening, prompting a strong retaliation by the Indian Army.
He said there was no report of any casualty, however, three residential building suffered partial damages.


An army official said the Pakistani army started the ceasefire violation by resorting to unprovoked small arms firing and mortar shelling on forward posts and villages in Hajipeer sector of Uri.


The Indian Army gave a befitting response to silence the Pakistani guns, he said, adding the casualties suffered by Pakistan in the retaliatory action was not known immediately.


Pertinently, Armies of India and Pakistan exchanged gunfire at Keran sector in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
