Timber smugglers held in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL : Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district claimed to have arrested three smugglers and recovered large quantity of illegal timber from their procession.

In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, Police said acting on a tip-off about the timber smuggling at the specified location, Police party of Police Station Kangan led by SHO PS Kangan under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan Yasir Qadri-JKPS arrested 03 timber smugglers namely 1. Mohammad Yousuf Thakrey S/O Lal Din 2. Nazir Ahmad Thakrey S/O Saif U Din 3. Showket Ahmad Baniya S/O Mohammad Ishaq Baniya all residents of Mamer Dard wooder Kangan and seized illicit forest timber from trio on spot.

In this connection FIR No. 07/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kangan and investigation is taken up.

People of the area hailed such action and reaffirmed faith on Police.
