Traffic department seizes several vehicles, bikes in Srinagar

People should utilize parking slots, appeals SP Traffic

Srinagar Jan 02: To ensure smooth movement of traffic in Srinagar city, Traffic Department on Thursday initiated a drive in city areas and lifted scores of vehicles who were parked on undesignated slots.

According to news agency, traffic cops while ensuring smooth movement of traffic in Srinagar city has started a drive against law breakers who were parked their vehicles on undesignated locations.

Led by SP Traffic Srinagar city S Dechen, cops bundled scores of two and four wheelers from Polo-View to AmiraKadal and booked violators as per law.

Talking to media, SP Traffic categorically said that roadside parking will not be allowed onwards. He also said encroachment at several places by vendors is also unacceptable.

“Those who violate norms and put hurdles over the smooth movement of vehicles will be dealt as per law”, SP said.

He added honorable court had also took strong cognizance of wrong parking and passed strict directions, so abiding of it nobody will be allowed to park his / her vehicle on middle of the road.

He said Srinagar city has ample parking facility but it needs to be used. “People should avail the facility of parking so that congestion in Srinagar city due to roads will come to an end”.

“Though we have opened many parking slots in Srinagar but still we are looking further slots to open. We have Football ground slot, Sangarmal slot and others where hundreds of vehicles can be parked easily”, SP said.

SP Traffic said after action taken by department against violators, people as asking now for more parking slots.

He appealed public to utilize parking slots in Srinagar and desist from parking their vehicles on roadside. (JKNS)
