Ganderbal, Mar 24: Traffic was suspended on the Srinagar-Leh highway on Wednesday after a snow avalanche blocked a highway in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal area.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that the Ganderbal-Sonamarg road has been blocked for vehicular traffic after snow avalanche hits river Sindh and the water fro river Sindh breached the banks and inundated the road near Hung area in Sonamarg. He said this forcing the authorities to suspend the traffic movement on the highway.
Meanwhile, The Jammu-Srinagar highway, the only surface link connecting Kashmir valley with the outside world, remained closed for the second consecutive day on Wednesday.
