Tral shuts for 36 days in the first 3 months of current year

Tral, Mar 27, : South Kashmir’s Tral town has remained shut for 36 days since the beginning of the current year. 

   These strikes were observed to mourn the killings of militants and protest against the arrest spree. Seven militants have been killed in Tral town so for in the first three months of the current year in three different encounters at Gulshanpora, Reshipora and Pinglish. The Aripal gunfight was the only exception in which militants managed to escape after killing a tooper Mahesh Meena. 

   “After every killing, Tral remained shut for four consecutive days and this happened many times in the ongoing year. Detention of youth also sparked shutdown in the town many times. The traders shut their business for 36 days. We suffered heavily on business front this year,” Ashfaq Ahmed Kar, Traders Union president told news agency. 

  The militants who have been killed in Tral gunfights in the ongoing year are Shakoor Ahmed Parrey of Laribal Tral, Touseef Ahmed Thokar and Zubair Ahmed Bhat both residents of Chursoo Awantipora, Adfar Fayaz alias Abu Zarar of Gulshanpora Tral, Irfan Ahmed Rather alias Abu Talib from Sharifabad Tral and JeM commander Mudasir Ahmed Khan of Mindora Tral. Besides, a non-local militant was also killed in one of the encounters in the town. (CNS)
