In a remarkable stride towards bolstering healthcare in the region, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented progress and development in its health sector. The strides taken resonate with the spirit of “Badalta Khilta Jammu Kashmir,” symbolizing a dynamic and blossoming state.

Notably, the state has ensured compliance with Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) norms, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to providing quality healthcare. The provision of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Non-Teaching Primary Health Centres (NTPHCs) stands without shortfall, exemplifying the meticulous adherence to IPHS guidelines.

Further elevating the healthcare landscape are the establishment of two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), strategically located in the Jammu and Kashmir divisions. This monumental leap forward promises advanced medical facilities and world-class education in both regions.

Additionally, five new operational Medical Colleges have been unveiled, with two more in the pipeline, having received the coveted Letter of Permission. This expansion translates into a substantial increase in medical education opportunities, with MBBS seats skyrocketing from 500 to 1300, PG seats ascending from 513 to 637, and PG dental seats surging from 24 to 48. Moreover, the inclusion of 270 Diplomate of National Board (DNB) seats reinforces the commitment to nurturing skilled healthcare professionals.

In the fight against cancer, two state-of-the-art Cancer Institutes have been set up, one at SKIMS Srinagar and the other at GMC Jammu, offering cutting-edge treatment options and hope to countless individuals and families.

Addressing orthopedic needs, two specialized Bone & Joint Hospitals are in the process of establishment, one in Jammu and the other in Srinagar. These facilities are poised to significantly enhance orthopedic care in the region.

A significant stride towards pediatric care comes in the form of a new 500-bedded Pediatrics Hospital in Srinagar. This milestone signifies a crucial addition to the healthcare infrastructure, ensuring comprehensive care for the region’s youngest residents.

The establishment and operationalization of 2966 Health & Wellness Centres further demonstrate the commitment to preventive care, promoting a healthier and more resilient population.

The augmentation of nursing education is yet another hallmark of this transformative phase. Fifteen additional Nursing Colleges are being established, augmenting B.Sc Nursing seats to 440, and adding 590 B.Sc Paramedical seats. This monumental expansion not only enhances educational opportunities but also reinforces the foundation of quality healthcare delivery.

The achievements in the Jammu and Kashmir health sector stand as a testament to the tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to provide the best possible healthcare to every citizen. With “Badalta Khilta Jammu Kashmir” as its guiding mantra, the state marches forward, ensuring a healthier, brighter future for all.
