Bandipora, Feb 11 : The residents of Tulail in Gurez valley of Bandipora district on Thursday appealed the government to extend the deadline to link Adhaar card with their ration cards as majority of the population is yet to enrol themselves.
Expressing their resentment the villagers from 10 Panch constituencies represented by a sarpanch in Tulail appealed the government including, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and Sub-Divisional Magistrate to intervene in the matter.
In an order by Assistant Director of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Bandipora, on 9th February, directed all the TSO’s to achieve 100 per cent collection and seeding of Adhaar target within a week, otherwise, they will face action.
The locals said that they have been told that their ration cards would be cancelled or names dropped in case they fail to link the Adhaar with it in few days.
Abdul Raheem Lone, a local sarpanch said that more than 45 per cent of the population in Tulail village are without Adhaar cards.
“Our area remains cut-off for most of the time during winters. How we will get the Adhaar and link it with ration cards,” Lone said.
He said that despite efforts the Adhaar enrolment couldn’t get completed of which the administration is well aware.
Meanwhile, the villagers appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad to personally look into the matter and extend the deadline to link Adhaar till June or July—(KNO)
