Two LeT militant Associates Held in Sopore

Sopore, May 10 : Police along with security forces have arrested 02 militant associates linked with proscribed militant outfit LeT in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Wednesday.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that a joint team of Army’s 22 RR, SOG and 179 BN CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Saidpora bypass in town following specific inputs.

The officer said during the search operation two suspected individuals were spotted who were trying to run away in an attempt to break the cordon.

The officer said assessing the situation, the vigilant troops displayed situational awareness, extreme restraint and exceptional fire control in not opening the fire. Subsequently, both the suspected individuals were arrested on the spot.

The officer said on the disclosure both identified as Kaisar Manzoor Mir son of Manzoor Ahmad of Behl Mohalla Saidpora and Muzafar Majeed son of Abdul Majeed Mir of Shalpora Brath Kalan.

The officer further said that during the questioning, both the arrested accused persons confessed that they were working as associates for local active militant Bilal Ahmad Mir resident of Brath Kalan Sopore who is affiliated with proscribed terror outfit LeT.

The officer said incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 15 pistol rounds, 25 AK-47 rounds, 1 IED and 2 hand grenades were recovered from their possession.

A case under relevant sections of law stands registered at concerned police station and further investigation is in progress the officer added.
