Two militants from Baramulla declared as terrorists under UAPA

Srinagar, Oct 04 : The Government of India on Tuesday declared two militants from north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, presently staying in Pakistan, as terrorists under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

In two separate notifications issued by the Union Home Ministry, the MHA declared  Showkat Ahmad Sheikh alias Showkat Mochi of Baramulla and Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo @ Sajad @ Fayaz son of Abdul Khaliq Kandoo of Sopore, as terrorists under UAPA.

About Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, the MHA said that he is involved in coordinating infiltration and recruitment of terrorists and execution of terror attacks owing to his deep network of associates in North Kashmir.

The MHA said that Kandoo has been involved in managing finances for the militants, supply of arms and ammunition to militants and narcotics smuggling.

He has also been coordinating attacks on security forces and civilians, in which many security forces personnel and civilians were killed.

It said that Kandoo has been involved in radicalizing and motivating youth to join militant ranks to carry out militant activities in the Kashmir Valley.
