Two persons held for illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in Sopore

Sopore : Police in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Friday claimed to have arrested two persons, besides siezed three tractors in an illegal involvement case of evaluation and transportation of minerals.

A police spokesman told Kashmir Despatch that on a reliable information that some tractor drivers are illegally extracting sand and bajri from river Vij Dachanpara Rafiabad.

A Police team of Police Station Panzla led by SHO Insp. Parveen Kumar intercepted 03 tractors loaded with illegally extracting  material from river.

The drivers upon noticing the police party tried to flee from the spot, but police party chased them and apprenheded them tactfully. The accused drivers were arrested & their tractors were seized.

In this regard, Case FIR number *52/2022,* under sections 188, 379, 430 IPC stands registered at Police Station Panzla and investigation set into motion.

Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.

Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units the spokesperson added.
