‘I urge media men to confirm, cross check facts  before publishing stories’

Srinagar, Aug 13: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur said the two persons who have resigned on social media and claimed they were part of BJP, were never associated with the party and are part of the vested interests trying to mislead the media and police.

In a brief statement issued here, Thakur said that as per reports Imtiaz Ahmed Lone of Nowpora Srinagar and Ghulam Rasool Shiekh of Fakeer Check, HardaPanzoo, Khansahib Budgam, who have announced their resignation on social media claiming that they will no more be part of the BJP from onwards. “The fact is that the duo were never part of BJP and are trying to mislead the media fraternity and police. How can someone who was never part of BJP resign saying they are no more with BJP,” said Thakur.

He urged media men to confirm from him and the party office, whenever any person claims to be affiliated with the BJP and tenders his/her resignation out of fear or other issue. “Some elements want to project that the entire BJP is under tight grip of fear due to a few attacks on the BJP leaders and workers and all want to resign. We have a media cell and besides I am J&K spokesman of the party and I request media men to confirm and cross check if there is any resignation in the name of BJP in future before publishing stories,” Thakur said.
