Unidentified male body retrieved in river Jhelum

Srinagar, July 16: Police on Tuesday recovered an unidentified male body from river Jhelum near Shadipora area in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Reports said that some locals spotted the body floating in the river near Shadipora and informed the concerned police station immediately.

A police team reached the spot and retrieved the body.

Confirming it, a police officer said that the body has been taken to nearby hospital for medico- legal formalities.

The officer said that the identity of the deceased is being ascertained.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that after completion of all necessary medico legal formalities, the body has been kept at Mortuary of PCR Srinagar for identification. “The deceased was wearing Black Upper, Green check shirt and black shorts”.

Proceedings under section 174 Cr.PC have been initiated, the spokesman said.
