Bandipora, Feb 08: A DDC contesting candidate, who was declared unsuccessful earlier in Naidkhaii DDC constituency of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, on Monday wrote a letter to Additional Commissioner (AC) Kashmir seeking recount of votes on the said seat.
As per Kashmir Despatch, Noor Mohd Bhat has approached the office of Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Bilal Ahmad Bhat with an appeal to recount all polled votes in the constituency.
Earlier, on 22 December, National Conference candidate, Abdul Gani Bhat had bagged the seat by the margin of 400 votes against his nearest rival Noor Mohammad.
Meanwhile, Noor Mohd Bhat confirmed to Kashmir Despatch that he has approached Additional Commissioner Kashmir seeking recount of votes in the aforesaid DDC constituency.
He said that his 750 votes were rejected which as per him were not falling under rejection as per the directives of Election Commission.
“During round 5, when the employees were requested by my chief Election Agent to record all 2500 votes that was also refused even some ballot boxes had votes in large number and others less, but the details of ballot boxes wasn’t revealed. On the same date I have given my representation to District Magistrate Bandipora regarding the same. Now, I humbly request your good self to order and direct recounting of votes in the said constituency as early as possible,” he has said in his letter addresed to Additional Commissioner Kashmir.
