Ganderbal, Jan 01 — The Annual Urs of Sheikh Jamal U Din (RA) was celebrated today at Sehipora Wayil in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District with religious fervor and enthusiasm.
A large number of devotees from various faiths and communities, representing different districts of the valley and the surrounding areas, participated in this grand religious gathering at the location.
Every year, the Urs commences on the 29th of Rabi’ al-Thani with Quran Khawani, Darood Azkar, and Khatmat-ul-Mozama, followed by day-long prayers.
During the Urs, the devotees prayed for long-lasting peace in Kashmir and sought blessings and mercy from the Almighty. Additionally, Dua e Majlis and Fateh Khawani were offered by the devotees.
“We hope that God grants us success and fortune through this saint,” said a local resident.
He highlighted that Sufism defines Kashmiri society. Such is the influence of Sufism that it shapes both the superstructure and substructure of values and belief systems among the people of Kashmir.
