Sopore, Oct 31: MLA Wagoora-Kreeri Advocate Irfan Hafeez Lone stated that the UT Foundation Day is a period of mourning for the entire Jammu and Kashmir region, for every individual who resides here, as celebrating this day is akin to pouring salt on our wounds.

In an exclusive conversation with Kashmir Despatch, Irfan expressed that Jammu and Kashmir was a historic state, and its history has been diminished to that of a Union Territory.

He remarked that the BJP has inflicted a significant injustice upon the people of Kashmir by transforming the state into a UT, and therefore, he does not believe that anyone will participate in this UT Day celebration.

Irfan lamented how the BJP has caused considerable pain and distress to the people of Kashmir, humiliating them by converting the state into a UT.

He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had promised to restore statehood, said, “Narendra Modi ji, you are the Prime Minister of the entire country, and there are many political rights of Kashmir as well, but restore Kashmir’s statehood immediately.”

In response to the BJP’s claim that statehood will not be restored until the situation improves, Irfan Hafeez stated that the BJP is lying and has forgotten their promises.

He emphasized that it was the BJP that claimed the situation in Jammu and Kashmir was fine; so what is the issue now when it comes to restoring statehood?

He accused the BJP of lying so much that even lies would be embarrassed. He noted that the BJP employs a policy akin to that of Hitler, repeating the same falsehoods until they seem true.
