SRINAGAR, Nov 4: The media fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir plunged into mourning on Monday following the sudden demise of Tariq Ahmad Bhat, the Jammu and Kashmir Bureau Chief of The Week, who passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest.
A seasoned journalist with decades of professional experience, Tariq Ahmad Bhat was widely respected for his credibility, balanced reporting, and deep understanding of the region’s political and social dynamics. His work in The Week and other publications earned him admiration across the media landscape for his sharp analysis and commitment to ethical journalism.
Colleagues and contemporaries remembered Bhat as a warm, compassionate, and highly principled professional who upheld the highest standards of reporting even in the most challenging circumstances. “His death is an irreparable loss to journalism in Jammu and Kashmir,” said one of his colleagues, reflecting the shared grief that has enveloped the press community.
Expressing his condolences, Syed Basharat, Editor-in-Chief of Kashmir Despatch, who had a close personal association with the late journalist, said, “Tariq was not just a remarkable journalist but also a wonderful human being.
