The Division of Agricultural Economics and Statistics at the Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura SKUAST-K, kicked off its second seven-day MSME Skill Development training program on “Business Statistics Using R, Excel & SAS” on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
The training program aims to provide students and participants with essential business statistics, data science, analytics, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and various statistical and economic techniques required for successful business management.
Prof Tariq Ahmad Raja, Head of the Division of Agricultural Economics and Statistics, inaugurated the event by giving a speech on the “Journey of Statistics to Data Science.” He urged the participants to keep pace with the changing times by developing an interest in statistics, economics, computers, and data science. He also emphasized the importance of getting familiar with R, Excel, SAS, and other software languages that form the core of data analytics.
Dr. Showket Maqbool, Associate Professor, and Dr. Faheem Wani, Assistant Professor, provided the participants with a deeper understanding of the subject and emphasized the importance of learning the basics of data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, internet of things, etc. for a smarter beginning in their future endeavors.
The training program has been designed to meet the present-day business and entrepreneurship needs. Revitalizing and revolutionizing the education system requires a dire need and necessity to learn statistics, computer aids, and programming skills.
Dr. Sajad Abdullah Saraf, Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics, concluded the event by discussing business economics and entrepreneurship development. He also presented a formal vote of thanks to all the participants of the training program.
The participants were enthusiastic about the event, and the coordinators ensured that the training program covered everything they needed to know to become successful entrepreneurs.
